Child sexual abuse is committed in several different ways with different aggressivity. But for the ambiguity of abusive actions most incidences go without being reported, and if brought to notice the perpetrators usually escape punishment for want of evidence.

Bullying and peer pranks take form of child sexual abuse

Besides adults, teenagers and even prepubescent tween molest children, usually younger than self.

 Children between 10 and 15 years of age start it as bullying and Homophobic Teasing; teasing their fellow students about having friend of the same sex;

Homophobic teasing creates fear of being lesbian or gay. Bullying then takes form of sexual harassment, and gradually advances into sexual abuse activities. 

Almost one third of students in middle school are reported to indulge in homophobic teasing.

Personal comments on looks, built, physical development and individual dressing preferences are also flung with sexual implication. Verbal sexual abuse in school is often followed by internet solicitation, sexting and cyberbullying.

Internet perpetrators

The Internet is the latest medium through which perpetrators reach children. Social media are modern youth club and entire internet a massive source of information; depends who uses it and how!

Child sexual abuse perpetrators use social sites to pick vulnerable children. And internet makes it alarmingly easy to access victim’s personal information; daily schedule, unsatisfied desires, weaknesses and interests. The information gathered is then used to win child’s confidence and establish emotional connection.

Hundreds of millions young children around the world use internet and social websites on daily basis. Amazingly large number of children as young 7-8 years old also have free access to internet and thereby to social media sites.  And receiving sexual solicitations through social media sites is Not uncommon.

Scary statistics of online sexual exploitation of children ≤17: 

  • 1 in 4 chat online about sexual things.
     
  • 1 in 5 receive sexual solicitations online.

  • 2 out of 5 online solicitors are below 18 years of age.

  • 1 in 10 are asked to describe intimate parts of their body.
Online Sexual Exploitation
  • 1 in 10 are exposed to nude pictures of someone else.

  • 3 in 20 agree to meet online solicitor in-person.

  • 6 in 10 know their perpetrator in person.

  • 1 in 5 cases the cyber perpetrator was found to be a classmate.

  • 1 in 15 are coaxed into posting their nude pictures on the internet.

  • 1 in 5 of all internet pornography involves children.

  • Every minute about 5 new sexually explicit pictures of children are posted on internet pornography sites..

Child molestation: Non invasive type

  • Sex talks and comments with a child; in person, in writing, or by telephone.

  • Coaxing child to wear revealing dresses.

  • Voyeurism.

  • Sharing and showing sexually explicit pictures or pornography films
Child Sexual Abuse
  • Asking to take off the clothes to watch the child nude.

  • Ridiculing and commenting on child's physical development.

  • Verbal and emotional abuse of a sexual nature.

  • Taking pictures of a nude child – sexually explicit photography.
     
  • Watching someone being sexually abused..

  • Perpetrator exposing intimate parts to the child for sexual gratification.

  • Being made to watch the perpetrator’s sexual activities.

  • Forcing the child to masturbate.

Child molestation: Invasive type

  • Having the child touch them sexually.

  • Tongue-kissing.

  • Kissing the face and the body in a sexual way 

  • Touching or fondling child’s intimate parts; breasts, buttocks, or genitals.

  • Perpetrator rubbing intimate parts against a child’s body or clothing.
     
  • Oral sex.

  • Sucking or kissing breast.

  • Masturbation.

  • Using fingers or objects to penetrate child’s anus or vagina.

  • Stripping child to spank for sexual gratification from hitting.

  • Anal sex.

  • Intercourse.

  • Dragging children into prostitution is the extreme type of child sexual abuse.
